THE DESIGN PROCESS
Some people who have never hired an interior designer are intimidated at the thought. Please, don’t be. The designers at Robinson Morrow Associates always enjoy meeting new people and are honored to be considered as the designer for your project.
Others often think that either their budget is too low or the amount of help they require is too small for us to consider them as a client. Please, don’t let that stop you from contacting us. We are interested in working on any size design project. This can range from one client needing us to help them in selecting paint colors only to another client wanting assistance in sprucing up her family room to another client who may desire a complete house make-over including some architectural changes. No job is too small or too large.
Once you make the decision to contact us the process will be as follows:
We will meet with you (preferably at the site to be designed). This meeting will be free-of-charge and is intended as an opportunity to get to know one another and learn the scope of your project.
If we agree to continue, we will send you a letter of agreement that spells out how we charge for our services. If you agree, we will then meet again to discuss in more detail what you desire and we will most likely have suggestions to offer.
If the project involves new items such as drapery, furniture, etc. We will begin to find samples of fabrics and pictures and drawings of new items we propose for the project and will meet with you to present our design.
The process of searching for different items and fabrics can often be of great interest to our clients. If you would prefer, we would be delighted to have you join us as we search and to make suggestions as we go along.
If the project requires architectural changes or some custom pieces such as built-in cabinetry, we will prepare drawings of these new designs and present them to you. We will then assist you in getting bids from the different tradesmen needed.
During the time that tradesmen are working on the project, we will go to the job site as often as possible to ensure that our designs are being followed to the letter. We will also have frequent meetings with you to keep you apprised of the progress.
When the job is completed, we still prefer to keep in contact with our clients to offer ideas of little ways they can tweak their home. Also, if we happen to run across an item that would look splendid in your home we will bring it to your attention.
